Thattekadu Bird Sanctuary

The Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary has a rich and varied birdlife. Several species of birds, both forest birds as well as water birds, visit the sanctuaries. The Indian pitta, which visits the sanctuary during winter and spends almost six months here. The sanctuary is a habitat for different varieties of cuckoos and a region of the sanctuary popularly called “Cuckoo Paradise” is home to them. The Edamalayar forest is located about 15 km from Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary. This is also an evergreen forest located above the Edamalayar River. The mountain hawk eagles are found in this forest. Other birds in this forest include dark-fronted babbler, brown-cheeked fulvetta, brown-backed and white-rumped needletails, and emerald green pigeons.

Bhoothathankettu Dam

Bhoothathankettu is a scenic dam site with boating facilities is situated in a vast virgin forest and tourist spot in Kerala, India.

The Edamalayar Dam is located on the Edamalayar River, a tributary of the Periyar River in Kerala. Edamalayar originates in the Anamala Hills. The Dam is built across Edamalayar River which is merged into Periyar River. The forests around reservoir provide shelter for variety of wildlife. Edamalayar is a heaven for people interested in birding and trekking activities. You can find different Species of birds in the forest around the reservoir. Boating in the reservoir will leave a memorable experience.

Bamboo Rafting

The Bamboo Rafting, this eco-friendly, entertaining program is quite exciting. This program is quite a long one and takes around a day’s time. The people will be taken through the thick forests which will be rich in biodiversity. One can even find out animals like elephant and gaur with ease. Peendimedu Water Falls

Peendimedu Waterfalls is situated in dense forest, 8 kilometers away from Pooyamkutty town of Kuttampuzha Grama Panchayath, 44 kilometers from Kothamangalam town in the Ernakulum district of Kerala. This is the highest waterfall in Kerala. It is in the Karinthiri river, a tributary of the Periyar river. With the arrival of the Mohanlal starred film Pulimurugan, the whole of Kerala has gained fame.
